16/10/2008 In Spring 2008 I contacted Bionetix because my pond had a bad infestation of blanket weed and they recommended weekly applications of Aquaclean. This treatment was only partially successful and in May I reported this to Bionetix together with pictures of the problem. Bionetix immediately explained the blanket weed growth was far worse than they initially expected and supplied an additional (heavier) dose of Aquaclean. This additional dose was totally successful - the Blanket Weed immediately started to "die-off" and the dead weed was discharged into the pond overflow. At the end of the season the water was still clear of blanket weed but the water was a little "murky". I again contacted Bionetix and they recommended an application of Pond Brite granules. As soon as Pond Brite was introduced into the pond the water became visually very clean and clear. Many thanks to Bionetix for Aquaclean, Pond Brite and their excellent communication. The problem was so serious that the season was probably going to be lost. I used Aquaclean throughout May with some effect, but with the warm weather at the beginning of June it went backwards. I increased the dosage and by the end of the month my water was clean. July with its high temperatures filled me with concern, but I need not have worried. At the time of writing my water is still gin clear. In fact, throughout July the lake fished better than I have ever seen before in such temperatures. Another plus . . . my fish mortality rates have dropped by at least 60%. Neil Johnson Llyn Edna Fly Fishing Holyhead, Wales 30/05/2008 Two years ago we moved into a house with a 15' x 8' x 18" deep pond oxygenated by a fountain and a waterfall. We had never owned a pond before and subsequently knew nothing about its upkeep. It didn't take us long to realise there were fish in our pond, which were difficult to see as the pond was full of "green stuff". A friend told us it was blanket weed. We spent the summer of 2006 trawling the pond with our hands to remove vast amounts of blanket weed which also clogged the 2 pumps and soon re-established itself in the warmth and light. Early this summer, on the recommendation of staff at an aquatic shop, we bought a supply of white granules called blanket weed inhibitor. We applied this to our pond as instructed and after 2 to 3 weeks the blanket weed died back and the pond looked clearer, but then very rapidly the water turned green, resembling pea soup. We found the Bionetix web site on the internet and bought Aquaclean. After a few weeks of using Aquaclean our pond water is crystal clear, we have no blanket weed and the whole pond looks cleaner with less sludge on the bottom. Our 60 goldfish and the pond weed look bright and beautiful. Vicky Banbury Alnwick 19/05/2006 I used your Aquaclean products last year in my garden with incredible results. The pond is rather large, about 35ft by 15ft and about 2ft deep. Since I stopped keeping ducks two years ago the pond became increasingly cloudy and in 2004 it was covered in blue-green algae for most of the summer. Last year I started using Aquaclean from April and although sceptical at first, I was amazed by the results. The pond became progressively cleaner as I used the products and I did not get any blue-green algae at all. It was wonderful to sit by the pond and enjoy its clarity rather than the smelly eyesore I had the previous year. I also noticed, whether it be coincidental or not, that the pond attracted more Dragonflies and other insects such as butterflies than normal which I can only assume was due to the cleaner water. I will certainly be using your products again this year and look forward to once again enjoying my pond and its wildlife. Alison Collins Wales |
