BARACLEAR® is a patented formulation of active ingredients, primarily Aluminium Sulphate (Alum), combined with other non-toxic ingredients that allow the active ingredients to be time released to the bottom of the pond, the main source of Phosphorous.
Phosphorous is a primary food source for Algae and its main concentration originate at the sediment/water interface at the bottom of the pond. It also becomes suspended in solution in the water where it becomes a food source for the Algae. Algae have no roots and use nutrients (Phosphorous, Nitrates and Nitrites) in the water column as their food source
Alum has been used in the water industries for decades as a water clarifier but the alum ions also bind with the phosphate molecules that are soluble in the water column and the resulting aluminium phosphate is insoluble in water. This aluminium phosphate precipitates and settles to the bottom of the pond where it is no longer available as a nutrient for the algae. In addition, the source of the Phosphate in the bottom sediment is prevented from entering the water column.

BARACLEAR®, in addition to removing Phosphorous removes suspended organic and inorganic particles (colloids) in depths of up to 15 metres. It works over long periods of time due to its patented slow release formulation. A further benefit of BARACLEAR® is that it contains bentonite which act as a pond sealant. BARACLEAR® comes in pebble format and is easy to apply over targeted areas.

How to use BARACLEAR®

It is recommended that you first do a QUICK TEST with BARACLEAR to confirm that it is the right product and you will receive the best results. Fortunately, this is easy:

• Fill a clean gallon container with a representative sample of the pond or lake water.
• Drop in 4 or 5 BARACLEAR pebbles. Do this soon after obtaining the water sample so it remains as close to the actual temperature as possible. Do not leave the water in sunlight or refrigerate before testing.
• Allow the BARACLEAR to dissolve; this should take 30-60 minutes.
• Within two hours you should begin to see suspended solids in the water begin to settle at the bottom along with the BARACLEAR. As each hour passes, you should see some improvement in the clarity of the water. You might be surprised how much settling of solids takes place in your pond/lake water.
• Allow to sit over night. If you see improved clarity then the recommended BARACLEAR dosage will likely produce good phosphorus removal. If some cloudiness remains and algae is considered the cause, increase the dosage slightly and repeat the test.

Directions for General Use:

• Determine the water volume of the pond or lake. The recommended water pH level is between 6.5 and 8.0 and Alkalinity of 50-200PPM before applying BARACLEAR.
• Use 0.33 kilogram of BARACLEAR pebbles for each 5,000 litres of water. Spread the pebbles uniformly as possible across the surface of the water.
• For small ponds with fish, BARACLEAR pebbles can be applied with a skimmer rather than by applying directly – this can reduce the potential for ingestion of the particles by fish which may cause gastric distress.
• Allow 3-5 Days for optimum clarity results – but the particles are still at work in the sediment, tying up free phosphorus. Continue or repeat treatments every four to six weeks to maintain pond clarity

Note: Ponds/Lakes with extreme turbidity or high phosphorus levels that receive regular run-off from yards, golf course, or farm fields where fertilizers are routinely applied may require higher/periodic applications. If algae growth persists, repeat application after one week until desired results are achieved.
